Happy Monday everyone! We’re starting this week off with a beautiful vintage DIY wedding from Melanie Gabrielle Photography, featuring one of my favorite colors, peach! With lots of family and friends pitching in to help put everything together for MaCayla and Kevin’s DIY wedding, you know this couple is going to have some great insight to share with us! So sit back and enjoy the beautiful images and great insight from this lovely Florida wedding!
What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?
My entire Family! I had all my Uncles, Aunts, cousins, sisters and friends outside setting up the tables, centerpieces and everything else. My sister Michelle saved my hair after my hair dresser made me look like princess Leah with one bun cut off. My sister Sarah did my make up and all my female family members made my cupcakes and decorated them at my bridal shower. It was so much fun!
What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?
Money was definitely a factor. We didn’t have money to hire a wedding planner. But in the end I was so happy we didn’t. My Mom, my sisters and my friends all worked so hard to plan and get things ready and on the day of the wedding I felt their love in everything I touched and looked at. It was beautiful.
What was your inspiration for your wedding details and/or design?
I love the rustic, vintage look. Anything that has history to it adds a special character to the atmosphere.
What was your favorite thing about your wedding?
My favorite thing was definitely the ceremony. It’s the time where you both get to focus on what is happening the most. Afterwards things speed up and you end up running around talking and dancing. I loved being able to look at my man and enjoy the moment of becoming his wife.
What is your best piece of advice for other couples?
Lighten up! There is certain attitude that a wedding is all about the bride, but I disagree. It’s the day a man and a woman become one. So if you make every decision a life or death one and fight over the colors and so on, you dampen the joy of what the day is really about and cause unnecessary frustrations for the both of you. Most couples don’t remember their weddings very well, but they do remember how much love and respect they received through the whole process.
Aren’t the shades of peach throughout this wedding absolutely gorgeous?! I love the unique centerpieces too, and how each one was a little bit different-so eclectic!
Are any of you planning on having a vintage eclectic style like MaCayla and Kevin had?
Vendors who made it all happen…
