Hi friends! You may be familiar with this week’s Vendor of the Week, as she’s been featured here on ELD a few times… Abbey Hepner Photography! Based in Seattle, Abbey Hepner is artistic, an amazing photographer, and is incredibly sweet too! One of my favorite things about Abbey is that she shoots film as well- including Polaroids! Enough from me though, it’s time for you to see her work and learn more about her!
Why do you see yourself as being Modern, Vintage, Classic, or Eclectic?
I see myself as a mix of modern and vintage.
What is your favorite wedding detail you’ve ever seen or created?
Every wedding has something new and interesting that I love! A memorable detail was from a past bride of mine that is a food photographer and health coach and runs an amazing blog called Eating is Art. Her wedding was full of creative details but my favorite was her bouquet made completely from fresh produce. Luscious lemons, herbs and artichokes! The boutonnieres were made with bright chilly peppers. It was absolutely gorgeous and was so true to her personality and gave tribute to her passion in life. Details that represent something unique about a couple always excite me.
What is your favorite store or brand?
I love brands like apple that offer clean and user-friendly technology. I also adore the online store Ruche, which features vintage inspired clothing. While I like to keep things clean, modern and user-friendly I also have a sort of nostalgic love for vintage, soft pastels, romantic lighting, faded film and polaroids.
What is your favorite thing about weddings?
What was appealing to me in wedding photography was that it challenged me in every way. A wedding photographer has to be good at still life, landscapes, portraits and they have to have good creative problem solving skills. I am also a true romantic so the emotional impact of weddings really resonates and guides me creatively.
What qualities do you possess that enable you to work well with brides and grooms?
My education background is in art and psychology. It has taught me to have a lot of compassion and to look for beauty in everything. My couples know that I genuinely care about them and that I am there to make them shine.
What steps do you take to ensure that your clients will have amazing wedding days when working with you?
I give my clients advice and help them structure a timeline in advance so that they know how light will affect the day and how we can structure more formal photographs to work quickly so that they ultimately spend more time celebrating. I also take the time to scout the venue and get to know some of the vendors so that I am more prepared for their important day.
