A little bit about this modern winter inspiration…
“Hats Off Holiday” is an inspiration shoot for a modern and luxe holiday, winter-wedding. The colors are a lush wintry oxblood and eggplant, with crystals and metallics worked in everywhere. The storyline is a southern bride marrying a New Englander groom, and we tried to incorporate both Southern and Northern inspiration into the Pensacola wedding. For example, there are two specialty cocktails: a Manhattan (from his side of the family) and a Hot Buttered Rum (from hers); the beautiful pastries are named fun things like “Big Apple Pie” and “I’m Bananas for You Torte”, and the venue is a historic building in downtown Pensacola with exposed brick and beams, giving it an urban feel. The favors are a good representation of the event: they are handmade peppermint bark (grandma’s recipe), packaged in glass containers, tied up with ribbon, and bearing crystal tags. The design incorporates dramatic centerpieces of painted manzanita branches dripping with crystals, surrounded by rich and textured flowers arranged to give an ombre effect. This effect is mirrored in the custom flower girl’s gown. The bride wears diamond and pearl jewelry loaned by a local jeweler, and the menu reflects the combination of southern and northern personalities (the passed appetizers are “Gulf Coast Shrimp Cocktail” and “New England Clam Chowder” shots.)
