Wow so this wedding I have for you all this afternoon- I really am speechless. Actually, I want to say “SWOON”… even though I NEVER say that word. That’s how gorgeous it is! The bride, Katie, and her family grew up in South Eastern France, and she wanted to pay homage to such an amazing background by incorporating it into her wedding. Add in the superb photography of A Brit & A Blonde, and friends… the results are absolutely breathtaking!
What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?
My wedding planning was a true team effort, however, my aunt and my sister stand out as people who were huge contributors. They encouraged me to use my imagination, helped me generate original ideas, and gave me the energy and support I needed to get through the wedding planning challenges. On my wedding day, a dear friend played the role of “day-of-planner”. He shielded me from the hiccups of the day and kept us on schedule. I don’t know what we would have done without his problem-solving and organizational skills!
What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?
It was very important to me that the vendors we selected not only could understand my vision, but also could help me build on it. All of our vendors were energized by trying something new and were committed to helping us realize our ideal day.
What was your inspiration for your wedding details and/or design?
Provence was the inspiration for our wedding. My family lived in Nice before I was born in the states and my childhood was influenced by their time abroad. For dinner we served a French-inspired meal featuring one of my mom’s famous recipes, Chicken Provencal, and we decorated the tables with colored glass filled with white flowers, lavender and herbs. My overall goal was to keep the design simple and elegant and to leverage the beauty of our site as much as possible.
What was your favorite thing about your wedding?
Our favorite thing about our wedding was seeing our families and closest friends all together in one place at the same time. We were thrilled but not surprised to later learn about friendships that were formed that day between people from different parts of our lives. We were so happy that everyone had as much fun as we did!
What is your best piece of advice for other brides?
Assemble a great support team and don’t be afraid to delegate planning responsibilities. The many details can be very overwhelming at times, but it’s very true when people tell you that everything comes together at the end – have faith!
Absolutely breathtaking, am I right?! I must say- the foodie in me loves that they had cheese, fruits and bread on the tables for guests! But of course I’m also loving the artistic guest “self portrait” canvases and the gorgeous French vases filled with flowers and herbs! Oh, and did you spy the emerald green earrings? Katie collected some stunning vintage pairs for each of her bridesmaids to choose from- such a great idea!
Above all else, I just love that Katie drew on her background to create her wedding day. Will any of you be doing something similar for your weddings in drawing inspiration from your own lives?
Vendors who made it all happen…
