It’s no secret that the pink weddings are my favorite. Even though it rained for this couple on their wedding day (isn’t that supposed to be good luck?!), their day turned out to be just beautiful.

Although a destination Wedding on the Florida Gulf Coast, Colleen & Brett had a lot sweet, charming details & personal touches that were drawn back to their New Orleans roots. The day of their beach wedding it starting raining rather early in the day and we were threatened with thunderstorms all afternoon. So we ran out and bought five really large black umbrellas so they could at least have images taken on the beach if the ceremony had to move under the reception tent! As if on cue, the rain stopped as the bride was coming out to meet her groom & the light was soft and perfectly spectacular on the beach for the ceremony & the after pictures!!
What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?
I found a lot of ideas on Pinterest. I also had a wonderful florist and wedding coordinator who gave me some great ideas along the way.
What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?
I wanted to find vendors who were easy to work with and who wanted to incorporate my ideas into the overall look of the wedding. I also wanted to find a photographer who would be a good fit for our personalities and who would be sure to capture every detail. I did!
What was your inspiration for your wedding details and/or design?
For my beach wedding, I wanted an elegant, yet rustic beachy vibe. So, we stuck with soft colors–whites, ivories, and blush pinks and added rustic details such as chalkboards, mason jars, and distressed woods. We are from New Orleans, so we wanted to bring our New Orleans heritage into the wedding. We had a second line complete with Mardi Gras masks, handkerchiefs, and umbrellas, and our guests enjoyed a late night snack of beignets and cafe au’ lait inspired by the famous Cafe Du Monde here in New Orleans.
What was your favorite thing about your wedding?
My favorite thing about my wedding was the custom drink station that was set up at our cocktail hour. We had pomegranate mojitos served in mason jars with adorable grey and white striped straws. I absolutely loved the set-up of the drink station and the mojitos were delicious. People are still talking about them!
What is your best piece of advice for other brides?
My best piece of advice for other brides is not to stress about little details because even your worse nightmare can turn into a blessing in disguise. The entire week of our wedding was filled with absolutely beautiful, perfect beach weather. The day of our wedding was a different story. It stormed all day, and my hopes of having a beach ceremony were nearly crushed. Right before our ceremony was set to begin, there was a break in the rain. So, we decided to take a chance. As I walked down the aisle, there was still a slight drizzle, and I was worried that it would start pouring on my guests at any minute. Fortunately, it did not and we ended up getting our perfect beach wedding. In fact, I think that it turned out better that way because thinking back on it, it would have been entirely too hot for our guests out there had it been sunny outside. Not to mention, our pictures turned out absolutely beautiful because of the overcast skies!
I’m kind of in love with their bar set up, for both the cocktail hour and the reception! And that drink sounds so delicious. This is definitely one creative bride with a serious sense of style!
