I am SO excited to share this gorgeous Florida garden wedding by my friend Jason Mize Photography with you all today! From colorful and unique bridesmaid dresses to a pompom exit, this wedding is full of wonderful ideas. It’s eclectic style puts a new spin on the classic garden wedding, and we have the lovely, artistic bride Kristin to thank for that! She’s been kind enough to give us some insight into the planning of her wedding also, so let’s get started, shall we?
What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?
I pretty much planned my entire wedding by myself but of course it could not have been done without my moms help as well :)
What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?
I wanted my wedding to be beautiful and enjoyable for my guests. I picked vendors that I knew would be professional and fun and give me the most bang for my buck. The Ritz-Carlton was not my first choice for price reasons but when I thought about the convenience and professionalism I would probably experience with them, my choice was a no-brainer. I met with all of my vendors before choosing them so that I could get a feel for the way they run their business and if they would make me and my groom feel great about choosing them to be a part of our wedding day.
What was your inspiration for your wedding details and/or design?
I am an artist and I knew I wanted to do a lot of DIY projects. I loved the idea of a shabby chic/garden themed wedding so I got married in a botanical garden in town and did a lot of projects myself. I also did a lot of research online and from magazines and ordered a lot of handmade goods from Etsy.com. I wanted to wow our guests with unique and creative ideas that they have rarely seen at a common wedding.
What was your favorite thing about your wedding?
My favorite thing about our wedding was our exit from the reception. Our guests threw colorful pompom craft balls on us when we were leaving to get into my PaPa’s 1934 Antique Ford car. We sat in the rumble seat and drove away with our “just married” sign on the back and cand dragging the ground. We drove around town with our bridal party following us in my PaPa’s other antique truck that my beother deove (they all sat on hay bales). That was the most amazing part of our wedding day (among many others).
What is your best piece of advice for other brides?
The best advice I can give other brides would be to not sweat the small stuff! You may think that your bridesmaids nail polish color will ruin your wedding day and it will not, I assure you. Something will always go wrong that day, whether it is big or small (I hope small) but you just have to roll with the punches and have a great attitude because after all, you are a beautiful bride and this is supposed to be the most amazing day of your life. It will be if you let it :)
Great advice Kristin! (Now that I think about it, I don’t think ever even thought about my bridesmaids’ nail polish color! Whoops!) It’s so true- you just have to “roll with the punches”. Thank you for sharing with us, Kristin, and a big thank you to Jason Mize Photography for capturing everything so gorgeously!
I’m loving all of the awesome details- the ceremony aisle decor, the unique centerpieces, the pompom sendoff… everything! What’s your favorite part of this eclectic garden wedding? Are any of you having a garden-style wedding?
Vendors who made it all happen…
Lauren
