This Monday deserves a big huge WOO HOO! Why you ask? Well, not just because it’s Monday, but because today marks the 1 year anniversary of when I started blogging full time! (I know, I know, I make a celebration out of everything, but just humor me.) So you all get a big huge THANK YOU from me for being such awesome readers! ;) And today’s wedding from Thompson Photography Group is perfect to celebrate this random-but-kind-of-not-Monday! It’s bright, gorgeous, and best of all… on an absolutely beautiful beach! And the bride, Traci, is just contagiously happy… so hopefully her cheerfulness will rub off on us and start this week off wonderfully!

What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?

I couldn’t imagine planning our wedding without Stefanie Fox (Mr. and Mrs. Wedding Planner)! She was absolutely the most wonderful wedding planner to work with. My husband and I had a vision of the wedding day, and Stefanie was able to make it come to life. Living in Columbus, Ohio, we knew it would be challenging to plan for our dream destination wedding on the beach in Florida, but Stefanie was there every step of the way. From helping us find the perfect location, to connecting us with every single, fabulous vendor, to becoming a true friend that we were so happy to share the big day with – she was truly amazing!

What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?

Once we decided that we wanted to get married in Florida, I started the search for a wedding planner on TheKnot. I found four different planners in South Florida and chatted with each one on the phone. Stefanie and I connected right away- she wanted to get to know us as a couple, and find out about our style so she could help us find the right location and venue. She understood our budget constraints and made us feel confident that she would provide options. And we were able to Skype with her – which was super helpful since we were so far away. Everyone else we worked with was amazing too! From The Colony Cabana Club, Cassidy Thompson Photography, Touch of Paradise florists, Cest si Bon Catering and Liquid DJ’s. Stefanie connected us with everyone, and they all took the time to get to know us, brainstorm ideas and provide options we could work with.

Did any of your vendors do anything special for you before, on, or after your wedding day that you would like to share?

I would say that every vendor in their own way did something extra special! The Colony Cabana Hotel and Club made every one of our guests experience so personal, and everyone that worked at the Club the night of our wedding pitched in to help make the set up flawless. Cassidy Thompson met with us a few months before the wedding for a quick photo shoot, just to make sure she knew how we would photograph! It was so nice to get to know her before the wedding – and she sent us those pre-wedding photos as a gift. Steve and his team from Touch of Paradise really understood what we were looking for when it came to a rustic beach theme. The flowers and the table centerpieces were even more beautiful than I ever could have imagined. Pat and her team from Cest si Bon went above and beyond – taking care of seating for the ceremony, table settings, and of course the food and drinks! Our guests were so impressed – people continue to comment on how it was the best and most unique menu they had ever had at a wedding! Shannon and the DJ’s from Liquid DJ’s were awesome! We selected specific songs for our ceremony and dinner, and they played everything right on time. And they really kept the dance floor moving!! In fact, we were having such a great time, that every vendor agreed to keep the party going for an extra 30 minutes! Talk about going above and beyond!

What was your favorite thing about your wedding?

Oh I don’t think it’s possible to pick a favorite moment from our wedding! Just take a look at the photos – I honestly didn’t stop smiling all day! Looking back, I feel so blessed that we were lucky enough to work with people that truly cared about making it the most memorable experience for us. I was able to savor every moment, from the time I started getting ready in the morning, to the moment the last song played – and that is a testament to having wonderful people around me. I guess if I had to choose, I would say, during the reception, when all the guests were on the dance floor, Mike and I took a moment together to stand back in the shadows and look at everyone – really taking it all in, and sneaking in a private moment (and kiss!) as husband and wife.

What is your best piece of advice for other brides?

My best piece of advice to other brides would be…hire a wedding planner! Make sure it’s someone you can talk to a lot, and who is interested in what you want but also has good ideas to contribute. The feeling of not having to worry about anything but walking down the aisle on your big day is priceless! One other fun tip, have a good friend carry your camera around the day of the wedding and take pictures. That way, when you get on the plane to your honeymoon, you and your hubby can look at all the shots!

Oh, hey, did you see what Traci said right up there? If you missed it, you should definitely read her advice. :) Traci, thank you so much for your wonderful insight! And Thompson Photography Group, thank you for sharing the beautiful photos of this wedding with us!

Well I don’t know about you, but I LOVE those centerpieces! They’re beachy, yet still very modern- my favorite take on the beach style! What do you think? Do you love those centerpieces, or did something else catch your eye? :)

Great colors – but I am so in love with that reception venue – I love the set up and those chairs!!!! So great to see something different than the typical while folding chairs for a beach affair. Oh, and those shoes? WOW!!! Love the sparkly heels.
