Happy Friday everyone! How about we finish off this week with a gorgeous and elegant lavender wedding from Erika Delgado Photography? Sound good? Well alrighty then! Also, be sure to keep an eye out for some great insight from the beautiful bride Joy too!
What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?
During all the wedding preparations, my fiance and I were living abroad, so many of our wedding details were done over the phone, skype or photographs. A year before my wedding, I went back home to decide on the “color” theme of the wedding, floral ideas and venue. The rest was carried out with the help of our families, mostly my mother-in-law. My mother-in-law was the person who helped me most in my wedding planning. She created numerous spread sheets, including guest lists for details such as addresses to send out invitations, responses, seating and food choice She met with potential bands, made linen and chair decisions, sent out all our wedding invitations and arranged hotels and transportation for all our out of town guests. She was my main contact for mostly all my vendors. I could not have pulled of the wedding of my dreams without her.
What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?
The most important thing for me in decided who I wanted to hire for my wedding was if they were dependable on delivering a beautiful product with creativity. Therefore, it was important that the vendors I hired came from word of mouth and recommendations from friends and family.
Did any of your vendors do anything special for you before, on, or after your wedding day that you would like to share?
My caterer and Chef Neil Connolly (former chef of the Kennedy family in Cape Cod) did an amazing sculpture for the rehearsal dinner that was a surprise and beautiful. He also sat down with us (and my family) numerous times to discuss the custom made menu we specially requested and we were absolutely thrilled about the way it all turned out. My photographer, Erika Delgado, also went above and beyond my expectations for what I expected from a wedding photographer as she was present taking pictures the night before, at our rehearsal dinner. She has a talent in taking capturing angles and lighting that I am sure I would not have found anywhere in the Tampa Bay area.
What was your favorite thing about your wedding?
My absolute favorite part of the wedding was during the ceremony and walking down the aisle toward my groom standing underneath the chuppah, a traditional Jewish wedding canopy. At that moment, I was so very excited to be marrying the person I knew I was meant to be with for the rest of my life. I was completely blown away at how our vision of a “purple” elegant wedding came together and could not have wanted it any differently. It was most definitely a perfect night to celebrate with out friends and family!
What is your best piece of advice for other brides?
My advice would be to not stress out with little details and to let someone you trust help you in making the best decisions for you and your budget. The day of the wedding goes by all too quickly and it is most important to live in the moment so that you will remember those memories for the rest of your life.
Thank you so much for sharing with us Joy! And thank you to Erika Delgado for sharing the fabulous photos too!
How about all of those gorgeous florals and the lovely mixture of purples? I love the variation in the types of centerpieces and tables too! So how many of you are having purple weddings? Or having a variation in centerpieces like the ones in this wedding?
Vendors who made it all happen…
