Well hey there lovely ELD-ers (Like that? I just made it up!), how are you this wonderful Wednesday? Today I felt like it was about time for some vintage shabby chicness to grace the pages of ELD, so I thought this wedding from Every Last Vendor planner Ashton Events would be the perfect thing to give us our fix! Vintage and shabby decor elements combined with the bridal party’s chic style makes it truly unique and gorgeous. Add in some excellent photography from Karen Lisa Artistic Photography, and we’ve got a pretty amazing wedding full of inspiration! Plus, my absolute favorite part is that the beautiful bride Carly actually found Ashton Events through Every Last Detail! Yay! Makes all my work worthwhile- connecting my readers with fabulous wedding pros! :) Okay, enough of my gushing, let’s move on to this vintage, shabby, chic wedding!
What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?
There are SO MANY resources that are easily accessible and surprisingly affordable of where brides can get tons of help and great ideas! Shortly after I became engaged, I was in Barnes & Noble and picked up a book called The Knot Book of Wedding Lists by: Carley Roney. This was my wedding bible from the very beginning, up to the day-of and even after! If you saw what it looked like today you would swear I’m probably evil to all things paperback!
Being that I went to school for Event Planning I feel I had a bit of an advantage in knowing more than the average bride, but by NO means do I take all the credit. My beautiful friends, incredible family, and supportive (now) husband, contributed their loving advice, hours, days, and weeks of time, ears for listening, and shoulders to cry on. I am fortunate beyond words and forever grateful.
My day-of coordinator Laura Ashton from Ashton Events was my wedding GODDESS! One day during my many hours of surfing the web, I came across the Ashton Events website. I browsed through their wedding gallery and shortly after picked up the phone to inquire. I spoke with the owner, Laura to who I shared all of my ideas and desires. Within minutes I knew she was going to make my wedding dreams come true! I could go on for days about how incredible she was to work with and the beyond gorgeous job she did, but in a nutshell Laura and her team beyond exceeded my expectations and I will forever have her to thank for such a fabulous day.
My caterer, Neil Wasserman of VIP Catering in Boca Raton, was beyond anything I could have ever even hoped for! He was personable, funny, laid back, understanding, and extremely patient. Any man daring enough to move forward after an initial meeting with myself, my mom, and my mother-in-law speaks volumes in itself! Not only did Neil put up with my late night texts, frantic phone calls, high maintenance meetings, and real life day-of drama, he did it gracefully AND made it look easy!! Neil and his staff won over the hearts of our family and the bellies of our guests and I would without hesitation recommend VIP Catering to anyone looking for nothing short of fabulous!
Did any of your vendors do anything special for you before, on, or after your wedding day that you would like to share?
At some point after my wedding, I received an email from my photographer, Karen Lisa regarding my wedding photos being submitted to a wedding blog and/or a wedding magazine. Helloooo – what girl could ask for more?!? I have Laura Ashton to thank for outdoing herself in making my wedding look better than the inside of an Anthropologie store! Also, Karen Lisa for capturing the gorgeous images worthy of being on a wedding blog! It’s true that diamonds are a girl’s best friend, but Laura and Karen are like diamonds in the rough and if you’re lucky enough to have them both at your wedding, together their sparkle is blinding!
What was your favorite thing about your wedding?
Let me answer your question with a question, What WASN’T my favorite thing about my wedding? [Editor’s note: Hahaha, touché. Now THAT is what I like to hear! :) ]
What is your best piece of advice for other brides?
You plan and you plan and you plan and you laugh and you plan and you cry and you plan and you change everything and you plan and then you change everything back and you plan and you yell, kick, and scream and you plan, and you exceed your budget, twice, and you plan and you gain weight and you plan and you crash diet and you plan. Then you blink, say your vows, party, and cry because the planning is all over!
My advice: It’s over before you know it, except you never want it to end. Breathe. Smile. Love. Laugh. Plan. But not necessarily in that order.

I am just loving that unique decor- ribbon, sheets of music, and a cabinet for the cake?! Love!
