The First Look. Very often the thought of it is immediately brushed aside. Yes, it’s tradition to not see each other before walking down the aisle. However, the First Look is something that I would highly recommend including in your wedding day photography. More and more couples are choosing to do a First Look. The emotion, love, and excitement that comes with that First Look is captured beautifully with photography. It’s something that can rarely be captured any other way.

When walking down the aisle towards your future husband, you’re not able to hug each other, kiss each other, or talk about how excited you are. You just look at each other and stand or sit next to each other (sometimes for a long time if having a long ceremony). We had a full mass, and we were whispering to each other throughout the whole 45 minutes. I felt like we were kids talking during class!

The emotion that you feel when you see your future husband is indescribable. But being able to act on that emotion and capture the happiness, love and excitement? Those are the moments that you want to capture!

Here are some examples of that emotion and excitement in the First Look captured by photographers.

The decision of doing a First Look is completely up to you! Don’t let your planner, friends, family, or photographer talk you into it or out of it! It should be a personal decision that you and your fiance discuss. Weigh the pros and cons, evaluate your personalities, your wedding day schedule, and your photographer.

I hope this will help brides in making their decision! If I
had seen something like this before my wedding, you would be seeing a First Look photo of me and my husband! If you have your own First Look photo that you love, I’d love to see it!
